A great musical experienced is provided by Walt Disney Concert Hall in LA as it is constructed to be the most acoustically sophisticated concert hall of the world. The hall is designed by Frank Gehry and the acoustics by Yasuhisa Toyota from the donation of individual and corporate donors with a great vision and passion for art, such as Lillian Disney.
The hall is found at 111 S. Grand Ave., Los Angeles, CA, 90012. This is the home of Los Angeles Philharmonic since it opened in 2003. Aisde from the intimate and sophisticated acoustic experience that it provides, it also serves as one of the greatest structural landmarks in California.
The building's exterior is made of stainless steel curves with a matte finish that gives it a state-of-the-art appearance. The Founder's Room and the Children's Amphitheater are made-up of mirror-like panels that were amplified by concave sections. Since the composition of this architectural drama causes glare and heat problems on the neighbors, the owner decided to sand the panels to eliminate the problem.
In 2004, a large concert organ was completed as another part of the hall. Manuel Rosales made the final decisions as to the designs or Gehry in partnership with Caspar Glatter-Gotz. The organ has 72 stops, 109 ranks, and 6125 different ranges of pipes. The making of the organ was sponsored by Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. as a gift to Los Angeles County.
The Walt Disney Concert Hall had appeared in several movies and television shows. It was shortly showcased in Iron Man 2, Everyday Italian, Brothers and Sisters, The Soloist, and The Matrix Revolution. It was even featured in the video game Midnight Club: Los Angeles.
