Not so long ago, people use to dance in funky styles, when break dancing was a hit. This was the Old School era.
When the dance evolved though, with the dawn of the New School time, Hip Hop set its place in the world of dancing, and people then started to do actions like krump, which were the routines of the new times. The movements became more enthusiastic, making the flow more rapid.
Hip Hop also set its eyes on the music industry too, bringing in styles like DJing, right from the heart of New York City, South Bronx. This brought in rap as well, which went on to reach top heights.
What matters is the dressing of these dancers and musicians, and the Hip Hop culture preferred loose outfits to go with its free flow.
Loose pants were widely selected, since the dancers could move with ease wearing these clothes. However, baggy outfits were only chosen if you were not dancing, since for dancers, they can cause a bit of problems.
Girls and boys chose fitted and lose t-shirts to be worn with the loose jeans at the bottom. Hoodies were also made famous, giving a new style to the followers, but mostly in the winter seasons.
What was the biggest change were the shoes, which were called sneakers. The shoes had to be perfect, since they were the most important of all items for a dancer. As the flow of the dance includes jumps, dives, etc. the shoes must be so smooth, that they can avoid any hindrance to the dancers on the floor.
Other items were also seen worn by a lot of people, from regular head bands, to proper jewelry.
The New School era also promoted graffiti, which to this day, is highly connected and blended in with Hip Hop, since both these arts point out to freedom of expression.
